Some ground rules.

These are set and enforced by the hoosier.social moderators.

1. Hoosier.Social strives to create a diverse and inclusive community.
   Hateful speech is prohibited, including but not limited to speech that intentionally targets any group of people on the basis of race, sex, gender identity, religion, ability, national origin, sexual orientation.
2. Direct or indirect threats of violence, incitement to violence, and the promotion of harmful or illegal activities are strictly prohibited.
   This includes, but is not limited to, doxxing, threats against individuals or groups, the glorification of violence, and the sharing of content that promotes self-harm or harm to others.
3. Persistent provocation intended to incite conflict or distress is prohibited.
   This includes but is not limited to bullying, flaming, harassment, and targeted personal insults. While we encourage the thoughtful exchange of ideas, this does not include personal attacks.
4. The spread of false or misleading information that poses a risk of harm to individuals or public safety may be subject to moderation.
   This includes, but is not limited to, misinformation related to public health crises, elections, and emergencies.
5. Please keep our space safe for all and family friendly.
   Use the “content warning” feature to mark material that you think might be too sensitive for other users. The distribution of gratuitous pornography or violence is prohibited on our service.
6. Spam, defined as unsolicited, repetitive, or misleading content aimed at mass promotion or advertising, is prohibited.
   This includes, but is not limited to, excessive promotion, the distribution of irrelevant or unwanted messages, and the use of automated accounts for promotional purposes. Limited, relevant, and community-appropriate commercial activity by Indiana-based users is permitted, provided it is conducted in a respectful and non-intrusive manner. However, frequent and persistent solicitation may be considered spam if it disrupts the community experience. Hoosier Social allows automated/feed/bot accounts provided they use the platform responsibly and follow our conventions for labeling, hashtagging, and content retention. 7. Hoosier.Social Admins have unilateral authority over users that violate these rules.
   Users can be immediately suspended without appeal. Moderation actions will be taken with careful consideration and will aim to minimize the restriction of legitimate expression.
8. Hoosier.Social is governed according to the terms of the Mastodon Covenant.
   Admins may de-federate any instance whose users consistently violate those terms.
9. While our admin team promises to respect your privacy, users should not assume privacy on this server or anywhere on Mastodon.
   Just as with all social media services, you should assume that anything you post here, including direct messages, could be seen by others.
10. These rules can be changed or updated at any time by Hoosier.Social Admins.
